Canton Strategic Tokenized Shares Debut on TSV November 2

By MABOnChain Desk · Published · Updated · 4 min read

Editorial digital-art illustration in the CoinTelegraph style: a grand stock exchange trading floor transforming into glowing blockchain rails, a giant golden share certificate dissolving into luminous digital tokens flowing along a network of light, silhouetted traders and a round-the-clock clock in the background, deep navy night palette with gold and teal highlights, cinematic painterly lighting, dramatic 16:9 composition, no text, no logos, no identifiable person.

Published October 29, 2026, 11:15 PM PKT. Based on the Canton Strategic Holdings announcement issued via PRNewswire on October 29, 2026 (primary source), and CoinDesk, Cointelegraph and CryptoBriefing reporting on October 29, 2026 (secondary sources). Market figures for CNTN are Yahoo Finance data as reported by Cointelegraph.

Canton Strategic Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed company, said on October 29, 2026 that it has agreed with TSV LLC to make its common stock available as tokenized shares on the Canton Network, with trading expected to begin as early as Monday, November 2. The company said the listing is intended to be the first of its kind under the US Securities and Exchange Commission's new rules for tokenizing onshore US equities, and the first publicly traded company to list tokenized equity under the SEC's Innovation Exemption framework. The announcement, issued at 8:30 AM Eastern Time, puts a willing issuer at the front of a race that has so far been defined by issuer objections, and it gives the tokenized equities market its first concrete test date.

The deal: issuer-sponsored shares, not third-party tokens

The distinction that makes this listing different is who stands behind the tokens. Canton Strategic Holdings is sponsoring the tokenization itself, rather than leaving an outside party to create tokens on its own, according to the announcement and CoinDesk. Fairmint, an SEC-registered onchain transfer agent, will issue the shares as issuer-sponsored stock through its subsidiary Fairmint TA LLC, which holds SEC transfer agent file number 084-06901. Fairmint TA will maintain the official onchain record of ownership and administer compliance on every transfer. Holders of the tokenized shares would receive the same rights and privileges as investors holding the company's stock through Nasdaq, the company said, and CryptoBriefing reported the shares carry a par value of $0.0001. "Tokenization creates more efficient access to equity markets for investors and greater transparency for issuers, and the SEC's Innovation Exemption has set up the framework to bring tokenized US equities onshore," said Mark Wendland, chairman and chief executive of Canton Strategic Holdings. "We are proud to be the first publicly traded company to work with TSV and Fairmint as they build a compliant platform for tokenized equities on the Canton Network."

That issuer sponsorship is what removes the biggest obstacle facing rival venues. Under the SEC framework, an unaffiliated third party that tokenizes a company's stock must give the issuer a 30-day notice-and-objection window, and the company can block the listing. Because Canton Strategic Holdings is the issuer, TSV avoids that process entirely, CoinDesk reported. "We were the first to formally notify the SEC of our intent to operate a tokenized securities venue, and we wanted our first listing to set the standard," said Ali Abrar, chief executive of TSV. "Thanks to the work we've done with Canton Strategic Holdings and Fairmint, investors on TSV trade shares that carry the same rights as the company's stock."

The November 2 race: TSV first, OKX-ICE still waiting

TSV published its initial venue notice on September 23, before the OKX and Intercontinental Exchange joint venture, OKXICE, published its notice on October 4, according to CoinDesk, and the waiting period following TSV's notice has already elapsed. OKXICE's proposed listings, by contrast, have drawn objections from 33 companies, CoinDesk reported, including household names that MABOnChain has tracked across three waves of objections this month. If TSV opens trading on November 2 as planned, it would beat OKXICE to the first trades under the SEC framework, not by winning a regulatory argument but by starting with a company that wants its shares onchain. The announcement follows TSV's notification to the SEC aligned with the September 17 Innovation Exemption, set out in SEC Release No. 34-106402, which allows qualifying platforms to trade tokenized US stocks through permissioned automated market maker pools for five years.

One caution applies to the race framing. November 2 is a target date in an announcement, not a completed first trade, and no trading has occurred yet. The venue is permissioned, participants and their wallets must be approved before trading, including identity verification and sanctions screening, and smart contracts enforce those rules on every token transfer, according to the announcement. Trading is also designed to be available around the clock subject to regulatorily required trading stoppages, maintenance, risk controls and trading volume limits. The first trade, if it lands on schedule, will therefore be a controlled debut with a small, approved participant set, not an open market launch.

How trading works: 24/7 automated market maker, atomic settlement

TSV intends to bring the tokenized shares into its automated market maker, allowing trading at any hour with atomic settlement on the Canton Network, the announcement said. Trades would settle through the Tradecraft protocol, which the announcement describes as the leading automated market maker protocol by total value locked on Canton Network, developed by Obsidian Software. Settlement is atomic, meaning both sides of a trade transfer together, or neither does, in an instantaneous delivery versus payment transaction. "Using the Tradecraft protocol, approved participants can provide liquidity and trade at any hour, with every trade settling atomically on the Canton Network," Abrar said. Fairmint chief executive Joris Delanoue said the approach "ensures tokenized shares carry the full rights of the company's stock, protecting investors while keeping the issuer in control."

The market greeting the news was modest, which fits the size of the issuer. CNTN traded at roughly $2.13 on October 29, up more than 4.5% on the day, with a market capitalization of about $170 million and average daily volume of 757,704 shares, according to Yahoo Finance data reported by Cointelegraph. That is a small-cap stock, not a blue chip, and its first tokenized session will test the venue's plumbing more than it will move equity markets. The significance is structural: if the plumbing works for CNTN, the same issuer-sponsored route is available to any listed company willing to sponsor its own shares, and the objection fight that has defined the OKXICE rollout becomes a choice rather than a barrier.

The company behind the ticker: from biotech to Canton

Canton Strategic Holdings is itself a product of the tokenization wave it now joins. Formerly biotechnology firm Tharimmune, the company shifted its focus to digital assets in November 2025 after raising $545 million to build a business around Canton Coin, Cointelegraph reported. It changed its name in February 2026 and now holds the cryptocurrency, helps operate the Canton Network and invests in projects built on the blockchain. It operates as a Super Validator on the Canton Network and is a member of the Canton Foundation, according to the announcement. Despite its name, the company is not the developer of the Canton Network, which was built by Digital Asset, Cointelegraph noted, and the announcement carries a trademark note stating Digital Asset has not sponsored or endorsed the company's operations. That distinction matters for readers: CNTN is a bet on the Canton ecosystem, not ownership of the network itself.

What to watch next

Four things decide whether this story grows or fades. First, whether trading actually opens on November 2, and what volume the first sessions print. Second, whether any larger listed company follows the issuer-sponsored route, which would show the model scales beyond a $170 million issuer. Third, how OKXICE responds, and whether its objection count rises past 33 or its own first trades slip further. Fourth, whether regulators or market participants raise any issue with the first sessions, from settlement behavior to the volume limits the venue says will apply. MABOnChain will update this article when trading begins or the date slips.
