NYSE Owner ICE Teams With Trade.xyz to Bring Hyperliquid Perpetuals to the US

Editorial digital-art illustration in the CoinTelegraph style: a grand neoclassical stock exchange building with tall columns at night linked by flowing golden ribbons to a glowing teal blockchain network, a large abstract golden coin and a clock motif symbolizing round the clock trading, deep navy night palette with gold and teal highlights, cinematic painterly lighting, dramatic 16:9 composition, no text, no logos, no identifiable person.

Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, is investing in Trade.xyz and working with it to build a regulated US market for perpetual futures on Hyperliquid, Trade.xyz announced on October 29, 2026. The planned venue, branded ICE[XYZ], would be a separate US market with its own exchange and clearing infrastructure, offering perpetual contracts on equities, indices, commodities, foreign exchange and crypto through participating brokers and platforms. The plan is subject to approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and neither firm has announced a launch date, a product list, or who will be eligible to trade. Hyperliquid's HYPE token rose about 7% on the news to above $86, according to BeInCrypto and Coinpedia, giving the announcement an immediate market verdict even though the venue itself does not exist yet.

The ICE[XYZ] plan: a separate US exchange and clearinghouse

Perpetual futures are contracts that let traders bet on whether an asset's price will rise or fall without the contract ever expiring, and they are among the most heavily traded products in crypto, but mostly on offshore venues that US investors cannot use, CoinDesk explained in its report on the announcement. The ICE and Trade.xyz plan would change that access route rather than simply listing a new product: the two firms intend to build a dedicated US market with new exchange and clearing infrastructure, according to Bloomberg's report, with clearing as the back end system that ensures trades settle, plus know your customer and anti money laundering systems built in. Trade.xyz said it will share details on products, eligibility and timing as approvals progress, and signed off its announcement with the tagline "Anything. Anytime. On ICE[XYZ]."

What is confirmed is the structure, not the timetable. Trade.xyz said in its announcement that the US market would be set up only subject to CFTC approval, and the announcement mentioned no filing with, or sign off from, the Commission, Unchained reported, adding that ICE had not published its own statement on the investment as of publication. ICE is making a strategic investment in Trade.xyz, with the size and terms undisclosed, and billionaire investor Stan Druckenmiller is also coming in as the first of a small group of outside market figures, according to Unchained and BeInCrypto. Trade.xyz credited ICE with more than 25 years of running regulated markets and clearing, and itself with the product and market design work, writing that innovation and the protections of US regulation should not be a trade off.

What Trade.xyz already runs on Hyperliquid

Trade.xyz is the largest builder of markets on Hyperliquid, the decentralized exchange that runs its own blockchain, and its existing markets have handled more than $650 billion in volume in just over a year, according to the company. Its founder said in the announcement post that Trade.xyz launched its first market on Hyperliquid 381 days ago. The firm operates under Hyperliquid's HIP-3 framework, a system that lets builders deploy their own markets on the network's on chain trading engine, and its perpetual contracts track stocks, indices and commodities, providing continuous price discovery even when traditional markets are closed, Crypto Times reported. In March 2026, S&P Dow Jones Indices licensed the S&P 500 to Trade.xyz for a perpetual contract offered to eligible investors outside the US, Unchained noted, a precedent for the traditional asset classes the US venue would cover.

Trade.xyz said its existing HIP-3 markets on Hyperliquid will keep running and expanding alongside the US effort, so the announcement is an addition, not a migration. That matters because US residents generally cannot use those markets today, and Hyperliquid itself remains closed to US users. The gap between offshore availability and US access is exactly what the ICE[XYZ] venue is designed to close, if the CFTC approves it. For HYPE holders, though, one honest caveat applies: neither company has said whether the US venue will return any value to the HYPE token, BeInCrypto noted, and the token's last rally on US access news faded within six weeks, so the 7% move is a reaction to the headline, not a confirmed change in the token's economics.

From rival to partner: ICE's Hyperliquid turn

The partnership is a sharp turn from where ICE stood months ago. In May 2026, ICE chief executive Jeffrey Sprecher said the exchange operator had met with Hyperliquid several times and called it bigger than Nasdaq in remarks at Bernstein's Strategic Decisions Conference, Unchained reported. About two weeks earlier, Bloomberg had reported that ICE and CME urged US regulators to look into Hyperliquid over manipulation risks. In August 2026, President Donald Trump said CFTC Chair Michael Selig was working to bring Hyperliquid to the US, and Kraken parent Payward has separately proposed a route for US traders to access Hyperliquid linked perpetuals through its Bitnomial exchange. The ICE deal is now the most concrete of those routes, because it pairs the incumbent exchange operator's regulatory and clearing infrastructure with the builder whose markets already do the volume.

The timing also fits a wider regulatory opening. The CFTC under Selig has been moving toward a framework for perpetual futures and tokenized markets in the US, and the announcement lands one day after the Federal Reserve held rates steady, with markets already focused on December policy. But the approval question is real and unresolved: a dedicated exchange and clearinghouse for perpetuals is a new market structure, not a product listing, and the CFTC will have to decide how 24/7 on chain settlement, leverage, and cross asset margin fit inside US derivatives rules. Until a filing appears, ICE[XYZ] is a plan with a brand and a backer, not a venue with a date.

What to watch next

Four milestones will show whether this becomes a market or stays an announcement. First, any CFTC filing or formal application for the exchange and clearinghouse, which would reveal the proposed rulebook, margin model, and eligible participants. Second, ICE's own statement and any disclosure of the investment's size, which would signal how much capital the exchange operator is committing. Third, product specifics: which equities, indices, commodities, currencies and crypto contracts launch first, and whether leverage limits differ from offshore norms. Fourth, the HYPE token's durability: whether the rally holds once traders weigh the absence of any announced value return to the token against the longer term prospect of regulated US volume on Hyperliquid rails. MABOnChain will update this story when a filing, a launch date, or an ICE statement lands.
